If your landlord isn't willing to enroll in a recycling program, call around to get costs for the service.
Group Pricing
Since the recycling company will be making a spot by your rental unit, they have the opportunity to make more money by getting more customers. Ask the companies when you call if they would be willing to offer a group rate for the recycling service, so you can get a discount if others in the rental units also decide to start recycling. Others may want to join because of the discounted rate that you can enjoy.
Recycling All Items
The curbside program may only pick up things like paper, glass, plastic and aluminum. If you have special items that need to get recycled, like any type of batteries, electronics and more, than you need to find the recycling center that takes those items and make a special trip to do so. You don't want to end up having that harmful waste get into the planet's crust because it went to a landfill instead of getting recycled.
A landlord may not want to pay for recycling for all its tenants, even though it would save them money in trash pickup every week.
